Entrepreneur and singer-songwriter Riccardo Cesari needed to develop his visual identity and a website that also served as e-commerce for his albums. Music has always been his horizon and traveling companion. Constantly present even when in the background when focused on business.

Having spent time away from the stage has only increased his desire to tell his story. Now he wants to start again from where he left off, in the awareness that there are no pre-established moments in life. 

And his message is clear: For anyone out there that is feeling off track and thinks they lost their opportunities and can no longer go back. Don’t worry. It’s not like that. We can always change direction.

We were asked to send this message out there. Writing a better story.
To create a visual identity, a personal style and look, and a website.

And a second part of the project, to develop a whole concept and showcase design for a storytelling show, to be performed as a duo together with writer Matteo Bortolotti.

Ric’s world is one of life paths and road-worn stories. And so the story goes…

We started by identifying the key values: believing in choice, dedication to own’s life work, change as a growth experience, focus on the journey instead of the destination, and the extraordinary nature of everyday life.

We want to show the life path and experience that bears the signs of time, the achievement of self-confidence without losing authenticity and spontaneity. The styling choices reflect the concepts of experience and care. Rough but refined look. The attention on the creative process becomes attention to detail.

A tradition of storytellers and singers-songwriters, folk music, poetry slams and open mics. The suffused atmosphere of smokey bars, warm colours and smell of wood, dim stage lights.

 

SHOWCASE CONCEPT & DESIGN

Longtime friends Ric and Matt bring a new music and literature show on tour, to tell a better story at each stop. New crossroads, new turns, new plots. New stories of choice and change, from station to station.

Storie Di Passaggio (Passing-by Stories) is a showcase that smells of crumpled notebooks and worn suitcases, of tales from the attic, travel diaries and waiting rooms. Of arpeggios in front of a fireplace, smoky evenings on an old sofa with a record player and a glass of wine.

There’s something suspended and eternal in the tales of travellers, the constant becoming that meets the legacy of tradition.

Like that of folk songwriting, the bildungsroman, the poets and musicians of the beat generation, literary cafés and revolutionary collectives, poetry readings and theatrical improvisations. Of that slightly yellowed book lent who knows when by a friend and found among the dusty shelves in the cellar. With a postcard as a bookmark, and a note in the margin that reminds you… Where were we?

In Jack Kerouac’s words – Where we going, man? I don’t know but we gotta go.
